ER, Learning, and Being a Child
- 2 minutes read - 216 wordsOur child woke up freaking out inconsolable, crying at full strength and we had no idea what was happening. After nearly an hour of freak out we decided to take the crying child to the ER and see if anything was seriously wrong. After an examination and some tests everything was coming back negative but she was mysteriously no longer crying. Then in a surprising turn of events she threw up!.
This whole series of events had me and my wife quite freaked out in the moment but it caused me to think about what our child was going through. How often do they see something for the first time having never been exposed to it and they have no way to understand what is happening. We watch her every day go up to something new or different and pick it up, put it in her mouth and swing it around but how often do kids have an experience that is new we don’t see. We had the chance to experience this new feeling right after her because she passed the stomach bug through the house. Those early moments where she was fussy were surely the stomach cramps and once she stopped having those she moved on to having the feeling of nausea overtake her senses.
